Halloween

I love to DIY, especially for the holidays. Now that we have Little Man, it's even more fun to decorate the house. This year I stayed away from too much of the scary stuff, and opted for a more fun feel. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and, conveniently, falls within my favorite season, Autumn. I love the colors, the everything pumpkin pie spice, Apple pie, Apple cider (so much Apple cider), root veggies, sweaters, roaring fires, and scarves. Pinterest and Her Holiness the Martha Stewart are both great places to start if you're looking for Halloween food and crafting inspiration.
We decided to have my parents and my husband's parents over for dinner this Halloween, since it was Little Man's first. LM's Mimi got him an adorable tiger costume from the thrift shop for $5. Woop, woop! I love a good deal. I patched my "witch costume" together from shoes and tights that I found on Amazon, and a dress from Sheinside.com. Overall, it couldn't have cost more than $60, which is pretty good considering that I can re-wear the shoes and dress.

I also made two rustic witch brooms out of a large branch with smaller twigs for the bristles all tied together with twine. If you already have twine hanging around, it should cost nothing to make. I found some cute pumpkin stencils free online, my favorite being the candle stencil from Marthastewart.com.

For the menu, I made a roast chicken with parsnips and carrots, crockpot candied sweet potatoes, peas, green bean casserole (a classic), crescent rolls, and an amazing batch of these vegan pumpkin pie brownies from Post Punk Kitchen.

Momming

Momming. It's what moms do. It's changing diapers, wiping noses, cooking, cleaning, celebrating, crying, laughing, enjoying our adorable children, white-knuckling it through those same adorable children's not so adorable moments, and it's doing all this looking fabulous...or wearing whatever passed the sniff test. This blog is for all those moms out there momming, like a boss...ish.
